I’m supposed to be working on a piece for Book 3. I have idea notes, so I won’t be lost by taking this detour.

I was updating my running notes before writing and decided to check Outside Voice and Book 2 to see how many pieces are in each (30 in the first, 1 long and 15 short in the second).

I opened the Word Doc for Book 2 to check the page count (yes, I can see the number on the screen, but I wanted to see which piece was at the end [maybe it was bio info which I wouldn’t include in the page count for this purpose]), scrolled to the end of the Doc, and read the last line… which made me read the paragraph before that… which made me scroll to the beginning of the piece and read it in its entirety.

I love this book.

Like, deep in my core. I looked at the TOC and started remembering the pieces I wrote last year and how much I need this second book to manifest.

However, Book 2 remains in “submission purgatory” for now.

I want so badly for Book 2 to be accepted and published where it’s at. But believe me when I tell you you’re going to get it one way or another. I just don’t know when.

And, since Book 2 has to come out before Book 3, I also don’t know when you’re going to get Book 3.

To be fair, I’ve only got 7 pieces drafted, so it’s nowhere near complete. We’ve got time. I’m in no rush. I want it to feel right.

As I write and rewrite and take long breaks and write some more and take longer breaks and reread what I previously wrote and begin writing again, I find that I quite often fall back in love with the stories I’ve penned (I often write them in ink before typing them up, but sometimes I go straight to the keyboard).

And I really hope (I pray) you and others will fall in love with them too.

Now, let me get to writing this new piece.
